This is just the sort of thing I've been looking for. It was only yesterday that I discovered the 3D text thingo in Illustrator. It doesn't seem to have the options that some 3D programs have as far as reflections, opacity and ambient lighting, but it's a start.
You've obviously found my first attempt. Thanks for adding it to your favorites.
